KESTREL'S MILESTONES
Kestrel Trust was established in Neuchâtel, Switzerland in 1983.
Its founder Walton Imrie, a South African portfolio manager who was originally based in London, moved to Switzerland in order to expand his business activities and offer trustee services to his mainly South African client base. In order to provide financial services of the highest quality, he promptly enlisted the support of highly qualified persons, including that of Maurice Emery.
In time Kestrel Trust grew to become a provider of Trust and Company Management services enjoying a reputation for quality, efficiency and practical support.
In 1989, Kestrel Trust acquired 60% of Rushbrooke Investissements, an asset management company founded by and operated by Michael Rushbrooke. Philip Rushbrooke, Michael’s son, soon joined the ranks allowing both companies to share resources. In 2018 Kestrel Trust acquired the remaining 40% of Rushbrooke Investissements, rebranding it as Kestrel Wealth Management in 2019.
In 2023 Kestrel Wealth Management secured its FINMA portfolio manager licence. This much sought after accreditation places Kestrel Wealth Management within a select circle of independent asset managers. The FINMA licence attests to the company's commitment to excellence, the quality of its organization, its rigorous procedures and its impeccable governance.
Kestrel Wealth Management is authorized as a portfolio manager within the meaning of the Financial Institutions Act (FinIA) and subject to prudential supervision by SO-FIT, Supervisory Organisation for Financial Intermediaries & Trustees. SO-FIT is a self-regulatory organisation authorised by the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) to supervise financial intermediaries which are subject to Article 2 para. 3 of the Swiss Federal Act on Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing in the Financial Sector (MLA). Kestrel Wealth Management is an active member of the Swiss Association of Independent Financial Advisors (S.A.I.F.).
